Breast cancer is a disease that does not discriminate, and although it is popular belief that those stricken have some sort of family history or known predisposition, this is not the case. The fact is, most people who get breast cancer have no history or genetic predisposition that we know of. One day, our cells decide to go haywire and forget to do what they are supposed to do.
With that said, though, as someone who is very near to this disease, I can say that watching what we put in and on our bodies is important. Because, bad food and chemicals may not cause breast cancer, but if your body wants to go crazy and your cells like to get amnesia and forget what they are supposed to do, then bad food and chemicals will assist those bad guys get badder. I truly believe that if your body likes to make cancer, then you shouldn't feed it the stuff cancer likes to thrive on: sugars, bad fats, etc. Did you know that your body turns fat into estrogen, which feeds the majority of breast cancers!?! There goes my kettle potato chip addiction!
Anyway, I don't want to lecture, but just give a friendly reminder the eat what your body needs and not what it will get sick on. And for sister survivors out there, all my best wishes to you! You all know how precious a good day is, after having to undergo surgery, radiation, chemo, and all the crap that goes with it. I congratulate you for making it through to the other side and being able to still laugh and care for your loved ones with an open heart and a smile. Absolutely magnificent.
I want to also give a shout out to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation - whom we partner with to find a CURE! Great shopping opportunities to support BCRF: discount cards at Macys, Bloomies, Ann Taylor; and lots of fashion, beauty, home, sports, etc.
